Update on CO Bicycle Safety Laws
Colorado Senate Bill 148, the bicycle safety bill that would require motorists to provide three feet between themselves and bicyclists while passing, is up for another vote tomorrow. According to Bicycle Colorado it has passed the full State Senate and the House Transportation Committee. In order to become a law it must pass the a full House vote. That vote could happen as early as tomorrow, Friday March 20th. If you’re a Colorado resident and you support bicycle safety, please call your State (not Federal) Representative today and ask them to support SB148 and to keep the three-foot passing rule in the bill.
Once the bill passes the house all it needs is the Governor’s Signature to be come law and then bicyclists across the state will benefit.
To find your State Representative use this site. If you need to know your nine digit zip code, use this site.
If you live in the Durango area (anywhere highlighted on this map), your Representative is Ellen Roberts. You can call her Denver office at (303) 866-2914 or email her (but a phone call is always better!) at: ellen.roberts.house@state.co.us
Thanks for supporting bicyclists safety in Colorado!
