Spring Tonic Elixir Release Party and the Repeal of Prohibition
Whether April 7th or December 5th 1933 is the true date prohibition was repealed in the US doesn’t matter to me. If breweries and beer lovers want to throw a party I’m ready for it. (If my quick googling is correct, April 7th is when the Volstead Act was rescinded, December 5th is when the amendment was ratified. As far as I can tell though, Anheuser-Busch started brewing beer again on April 7th, 1933). Regardless of the date, The Durango Bootlegger’s Society is throwing a party.

The evening of Tuesday April 7th (not today, March 31st as reported in The Durango Herald) Carver’s is hosting a party for the Durango Bootlegger’s Society. They’ll have the 7th annual release of Spring Tonic Elixir, which according to The Herald is a dark lager based on a prohibition era recipe. Prohibition era attire is recommended for the night to keep the mood up. Bluegrass band Sourmash will be providing the music. This all goes down Tuesday April 7th at Carver Brewing Company, 1022 Main Ave, Durango, CO.
