Ska Wheelsucker Wheat Release Party

The Ska/Avery Wheelsucker Wheat release party came and went last week, and I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that everyone in attendance had a great time. At any given time I’d say there were at least 100 people in the tap room and spilling outside where the band was playing.

I helped Kinsee put together a piece on the ride and the beer for KSUT Public Radio (ok, Kinsee did all the work, I just gave her the info on the ride, the beer and who to talk to). You can listen to that here.

Even after riding over 400 miles in 5 days Dave Thibodeau of Ska Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing were in great spirits hanging out and drinking some beer.

As for the beer itself, I thought it was great. I’ve said before that I’m not a huge hefewiezen fan, but Wheelsucker Wheat is easily drinkable and has more a bit more of a punch than your average wheat beer. It’s around 7% but not over powering at all, not too sweet nor too bitter, a great balanced beer. It’s on tap at Ska Brewing, Lady Falconburgh’s and available in 22oz bottles.

According to Dave and Adam this beer ride (or something similar) could become an annual event.

More pictures from the night are on my flickr.
