3rd Annual Tour de Farms
The third annual Tour de Farms put on by Healthy Lifestyle La Plata is this Sunday, August 30th.
There are two ride options, a 5 mile in town tour of gardens near downtown and a 25 mile tour near Ignacio that visits The La Boca Center for Sustainability and Fox Fire Farms. The registration pamphlet (pdf link here) says all riders must be pre-registered by August 24th (that was two days ago) but if you’re itching to go give them a call, they just might let you in. (Update 8/27/09: According to The Durango Herald registration will be available at the Master Gardener/CSU Extension booth at the Durango Farmer’s Market Saturday morning. I’ve never been to Fox Fire Farms, but my fiancee, in-laws and I have a CSA through La Boca. The food is delicious and the farmers are great people. It’s sure to be a good time. I took a tour of La Boca a few months back and blogged about it (with plenty of pictures) here.
After the ride everyone that participates gets to meet up at the Smiley Building and have a local food BBQ with beer (and root beer) provided by Carver Brewing Co.!
